Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership Welcomes Business Leaders to Board

SAN RAFAEL- Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (Center) announced the election of two new members to its Board of Directors: Mark Chapman, VP/Manager, Marketing & Communications, Redwood Credit Union and Marssie Versola, Strategic Partnerships, Events & Marketing, popchips.

“The Center is honored to welcome Mark Chapman and Marssie Versola as new board members,” said Linda Davis, Center CEO. “Each of them provides diverse perspectives and experiences from their work in the business community that will enhance our efforts to serve the nonprofit sector.”

The new members bring wide-ranging corporate and marketing experience to the Center’s board: Chapman achieved success helping companies grow revenue and improve infrastructure efficiency through his expertise in building/leading departments, developing strategic marketing plans, increasing brand awareness, and bringing new ideas to market that increase revenue. Having worked for both Fortune 500 companies and small businesses, Chapman has extensive experience in the marketing and communications disciplines including brand management, research, customer experience, budgeting, financial management and reporting, online/social media, contract management and media relations.

At Redwood Credit Union, Chapman embraces the credit union philosophy while bringing advanced marketing and communications techniques to increase departmental efficiency and marketing effectiveness. Chapman serves on the Board of Trustees of the Native Sons of the Golden West, a fraternal organization dedicated to serving communities and preserving California history. Chapman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego and an MBA from Golden Gate University.

As an active member in the Marin community for 25 years and a former staff member of the Center, Versola returns as one of the Center’s newest board members, with a unique perspective representing the millennial generation and a desire to help foster more collaboration across the for-profit and non-profit sectors.

While an employee at the Center Versola was responsible for the production and management of the Center’s marquee events including the Marin Human Race and Heart of Marin Awards. Versola’s spent the past several years managing strategic partnerships, sponsorships, marketing and events for high profile global brands including the LEGO Group, FIJI Water and presently, local better-for-you snack company, popchips.

Versola holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. She recently earned a certificate in Human Centered Design for Social Innovation through IDEO.org, and is a passionate believer in the potential of social enterprise, the need for of socially responsible business, and the power of local community.
