Readers' Choice: Who Serves the Best Mexican Food?

In the latest installment in our Readers' Choice series, we take a look at the small but rich landscape of Mexican food in San Rafael. Which is the best?

From tacos and quesadillas to enchiladas and burritos, San Rafael has you covered when it comes to great Mexican food. So where do you go when you want to take a culinary trip south of the border?

Voting (rules attached at right) comes in two forms: you can vote in the poll below, but the poll is not scientific and is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. You also weigh in by rating the entry on their page in San Rafael Patch Places directory (links below).

If you own or manage one of the entries in our contest, please be sure to ! This allows you to customize the information that appears on our site, and to thank your loyal customers for the positive ratings they give you.

Here are the entries, but if we've left one off of the list, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it right away.

Hi Tech and Puentez Taqueria are burrito outlets and shouldn't be on the list, and the reason. Taqueria San Jose is just bad all around. While Puentez does serve what could be called Mexcian food aside from its excellent burritos, those selections pale compared to Las Camelias.

RE: Taqueria San Jose is just bad all around. You have got to be kidding. Having lived in San Francisco and sampled a huge variety of Mission Street Mexican places (unequivocally considered the most authentic and tasty in the Bay Area) I can guarantee you that Taqueria San Jose is as close as one gets in Marin.

Picante is one of my favorites. But Las Camelias is another fave as well. Happy voting!

Real mexican food only in San Jose taqueria. I'm talking flavor, not fancy places.

Picante always serves consistently delicious fare. Not on the list - Mi Pueblo is pretty decent. Great price for large party orders.
