Readers' Choice Winner: Three Twins Ice Cream

The Terra Linda ice cream shop won by a landslide of votes.

, Terra Linda’s shop won by a landslide.

Three Twins Ice Cream, located at 641 Del Ganado Road, is made with local ingredients found within 20 miles. Twelve amazing flavors of ice cream are offered, including the very popular Mint Confetti, Madagascar Vanilla and Strawberry Je Ne Sais Quoi.

Founding twin and owner Neal Gottleib opened the Terra Linda store in 2005. With 580 square feet of working room, for many months he was the only employee. He would make the ice cream in the morning, serve scoops with a smile in the afternoon and clean up after hours.

Now, there are three other stores in operation, one in Larkspur, one in Napa and one in San Francisco, a wholesale factory in Petaluma and in mid-May they started selling quarts nationwide via Whole Foods. Currently their pints are enjoyed in grocery stores in 37 states.

The name of the ice cream shop came from Neal’s twin brother Carl and Carl’s fiancee. The three were rooming and dubbed the “three twins.” When they went into the ice cream business together, they decided to keep the name.

Patch reader Drusie Davis gave the shop a five star rating in our directory. “Delicious, delicious ice cream! One of the best in the Bay Area,” she said.

Coming in second is in Northgate One. This shops makes all of its ice cream on site, and you can view the entire process from the back of the store. It offers a wide array of standard flavors and some unique ones.

Chet Davis, who rated Silbermann’s as a five-star business, likes that the owners support the community, particularly youth sports.  Also, there’s “delicious ice cream, delightful flavors and friendly staff,” he wrote.
