What to they offer?

Marin Cleaners offers more than just dry cleaning services to the city of San Rafael. They also offer shirt laundering, couture care, leather and suede cleaning, alterations, pillow renovation, area rugs, bed linens, table linens, alterations and bridal clothing preservation. Marin Cleaners has three vans, perfect for the pick-up and delivery option offered to busy customers. Business hours are 7a.m. to 7p.m. on the weekdays, and Saturdays from 9a.m. to 3p.m.

Who Are They?

General Manager Marc Casassa is a fourth generation manager and operator. He is a Marin native, having lived in Novato for 32 years before moving to Larkspur 6 years ago. This is a family affair as Marc’s father William, and his Uncle Gary are the company’s president and vice president. Marc attended the International Fabric Institute in Maryland before joining his father, who is also a VP of Dry Cleaning and Laundry Institute, a educational and research institute for the Association of Dry Cleaners, Wet Cleaners and Launderers.

How long have they been there?

There are two locations in San Rafael. The opened 57 years ago and the opened in 1973.

Why are they in our business spotlight?

Marin Cleaners is the only diamond certified cleaning business in Marin County. They are also recognized as an America’s Best Cleaners, one of only 45 elite cleaners across the United States selected by this nationally accredited organization. This local business invests in itself as  they are a union shop and supply benefits for all employees. The seamstress located at the Fourth Street shop, Lan Luong, has been altering and tailoring there for almost 28 years. There is nothing Lan can’t fix, tuck or shorten. As Marc says, “good seamstresses are one in a million and Lan is the very best, we are so lucky to have her.”

Marin Cleaners also listens to its customers and so when Bill, Gary and Marc heard a request for more eco-responsible care, they answered. The green earthing cleaning method (used at all of their business locations) is a silicon based cleaner, which is an eco-friendly solvent on the cutting edge of dry cleaning services. They also strive to be green in other areas of the business, as they were one of the first dry cleaners in the country to supply customers with hanger caddy’s to promote the recycling of hangers.

This is a business which is known for excellent costume work and care. They handle much of the cleaning for local theater and dance organizations including the Marin Ballet, Marin Academy, and the Stapleton School of the Performing Arts.
