In a time of big box companies and online mega sites, imagination still reigns at A Child’s Delight. Step inside the cozy boutique, located at the newly renovated Northgate One in Terra Linda, and be transported back to days of yore. They offer classic toys focused on education and creativity instead of electronic gadgets and lights. Simply, mindful play is a top priority.

Who Are They?

This is a local business, through and through. Owners Deborah and Jonathan Meyer are residents of Terra Linda. With stores in San Francisco and Corte Madera as well as the San Rafael location, the Meyers believe in offering toys and gifts to ignite the mind and the senses.  Long time store manager Betty Schaffer is also a resident of San Rafael. She has worked at A Child’s Delight for 15 years. As a former preschool teacher, Betty knows what toys are the best fit for playtime. Her expertise has helped thousands of customers.

How Long Have They Been There?

A Child’s Delight has been open for 18 years, 15 of those in the Northgate Mall and three of them at Northgate One.

Why Are They In Our Business Spotlight?

This is a one-stop shop for parents on their way to the tenth birthday party of the year. They offer free gift wrapping and birthday cards, as well as Betty’s expertise and helpful hints for the perfect present. As an extremely kid-friendly business, there is no need to worry about your kiddo breaking a new toy, as there are areas designated specifically for the little customer.

Can’t quite remember the name of that favorite toy from your childhood? Well chances are you’ll find it at A Child’s Delight and the staff will point you in the right direction. Customer service is a top priority and all employees are trained to know and remember the product.  In addition to the wonderful classic toy selection, parents can find books, arts and crafts and bikes.
