What do they offer?

Who are they?

Owner Daniel Indelicato’s father Gaspare grew up in the hospitality business in Italy and Europe. After moving to the United States, he opened his own restaurant. Gaspare’s Pizza House and Italian Restaurant has been a local favorite in San Francisco since 1985. Indelicato, a Terra Linda High School graduate and current Novato resident, followed in the family footsteps. After completing programs in Hospitality Arts at San Francisco City College and helping manage the family spot in the city for five years, Indelicato ventured out on an independent but close to home gastronomic adventure. After choosing a spot and selecting his team, the restaurant in San Rafael opened and has been serving loyal customers ever since.

How long have they been there?

Gaspare’s Pizzeria Ristorante Bar has been serving up food for hungry folks since 2006.

Why are they in our Business Spotlight?

Gaspare’s Pizzeria Ristorante Bar is tucked away near the Los Ranchitos neighborhood, across from the Marin Civic Center. Many view the spot as a hidden gem, particularly because the restaurant boasts a full bar and a combination many in Marin County look for but fail to locate.

The weekly specials found at Gaspare’s are well known and loved. The risotto, made with pesto, freshly-grilled salmon and a champagne sauce and the osso bucco over polenta are customers' favorites. Serious pasta lovers will dive into the lasagna al forno and greens fans should try the arugula and beet salad, served with fennel and goat cheese. Indelicato’s mother Robin made the famous cheesecake for over 20 years before allowing the restaurant to take over the reins of production, but only if following her famous recipe. And there is always the thin crust, East Coast-style pizza that keeps customers coming back.

Other than the food, Indelicato strives to give back to his local community. Since 2007 restaurant has sponsored a golf tournament with beneficiaries including local nonprofits such as the Marin Food Bank and Marin Advocates for Children.

Anyone whose kids attend locals schools Terra Linda High or Venetia Valley Elementary need only mention the connection and 10 percent of the bill will be directly donated back to the school. Having grown up in Marin and San Rafael especially, "I’m just a local boy hanging out and hoping to stay around," he said.
