Biz Briefs: Library Sale, Baubles and Beads, MVFF35 and Massive Solar Project

Here's a roundup of business news, sales, classes and volunteer opportunities around town:

The Friends of the Library are having a book sale on Saturday, September 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Library.

Family Service Agency of Marin has added a new session of  for divorced or separated families. The class will begin Wednesday, September 12 and meets every Wednesday for six sessions from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Classes are offered for a sliding-scale fee that ranges between $15 and $40. For information or to register for Parenting Apart call 415-491-5723. FSA of Marin is located in Terra Linda, across the street from Northgate Mall at 555 Northgate Drive.

Film buffs alert: . Register at www.shiftboard.com/mvff and be sure to attend the Volunteer Orientation Day on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. in the Rafael Film Center at 1118 4th Street in San Rafael. 

Beaders will have to trek to Berkeley in order to visit Baubles and Beads from now on as the owners have consolidated from two stores into one. Still offering beading and jewerly classes, just a little farther from Marin.

Keeping it green in Marin as the sits atop a hangar at the San Rafael Airport and will be up and running by the end of September. When complete, the panels will produce enough power for 280 homes for up to a year and over 1,200 customers during peak energy production. It will offset about 750 tons of greenhouse emissions annually. That’s a lot of gas!

I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
