Saturday and Sunday:

Saturday night is opening night for Marin Shakespeare’s zany, hilarious, irreverent three-man romp through the annals of our nation's past. History has never been this much fun. This production includes new scene additions of recent events in American history. Featuring Darren Bridgett, Cassidy Brown, and Mick Mize.

If you go: Tickets are $35 General, $30 Senior, $20 Youth and can be bought by clicking here. Saturday’s opening day curtain time is 8 p.m. and includes cake, champagne and festivities. Sunday’s family day matinee begins at 4 p.m. with youth under 18 attending for free. The show continues on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until September 25. The production takes place at Forest Meadows Amphitheatre,1475 Grand Avenue, in San Rafael.

Friday:

By day, these five agents run The Department of Rock. By night, they defend your right to party with extraordinary “Rock Hero” abilities. You’ll rock out hard to the best rock music of the '70s, '80s, '90s and beyond. The Department of Rock and its agents have performed, recorded and worked with some of the greatest national and international producers, recording artist and pro-audio companies in the world such as members of Aerosmith, Journey, Tesla, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, White Stripes, Metallica, Linkin Park, Buck Cherry and Ronnie Montrose. Rock on!

In addition, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse will have one of their signature beers available for $5 a glass for those 21+.  Bring your own low seats or blankets.  is at 5800 Northgate Mall Road in San Rafael.

 

Friday:

Sara Forestier won the César for Best Actress for her performance in this racy, racial French comedy as Baya Benmahmoud, a beautiful free spirit who converts right-wing men to her left-wing causes by seducing them. One day this young, extroverted liberal with an Algerian father meets Arthur Martin (Jacques Gamblin), a scientist who is middle-aged, middle-of-the-road and Jewish. Bound in part by common family tragedies (the Algerian War and the Holocaust under Vichy), this improbable duo fall in love and the sparks fly. Amid the sexy humor and zany moments, co-writers Michel Leclerc and Baya Kasmi (who also shared the César for Best Original Screenplay) inject satirical riffs on such hot-button issues as Arab-Jewish relations, anti-Semitism, immigration and racial and cultural identity.

Saturday:   -Cultural Fusion

Whether you bring the family or make it a date night, bring your own picnic or buy some delicious food from Mi Pueblo Food Center or just feeling like kicking back, tonight’s concert features  Cultural Fusion.  Rupa and April Fishes brings hybrid music from Southern France, Spain, Chanson, Gypsy, reggae, Klezmer, Mexico and beyond. Get there early, throw a blanket on the ground or bring a low chair and settle in for a great summer evening of music.

If you go: Tickets at the door are $25 public / $20 JCC members, children 6–17 are $5 and children 5 and under are free. Advance tickets are $20 and can be bought by clicking here. The show starts at 7 p.m. (with doors opening at 6:15 p.m.) to 10 p.m. at the , 200 N. San Pedro Road in San Rafael.
