San Rafael Road Closures Planned this Week for Italian Street Painting

The return of the Italian Street Painting Festival, now called Italian Street Painting Marin, is imminent, and San Rafael officials want to ensure local drivers have a heads up about festival-related road closures that will begin on Wednesday. 

Closures will begin at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 and include:

·      Fifth Avenue between B Street and Court Street

·      One block of A Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue

San Rafael Police officials are asking motorists traveling through downtown to use Second Street, Third Street and Mission Avenue. Also, drivers heading to Highway 101 should also consider using Sir Francis Drake Blvd. as an alternative route, according to police officials.

“Delays are possible, especially during peak commute times,” San Rafael Police Spokesperson Margo Rohrbacher said.

The streets will reopen on Monday, July 1, at 4 p.m., according to the San Rafael Police.
