The San Rafael resident is a general surgeon in the East Bay, often performing urgent surgeries on emergency room patients.

But when he’s not wielding the surgical instruments of his trade, Gourlay is brandishing a paint brush. Since 1976, Gourlay has been painting landscapes and cityscapes all over Marin and the Bay Area.
