Playhouses and Purim

Here’s to the power of new dads, health, tall tales, Mr. Toad & Purim— pick and choose from this week’s array of events.

Glad you clicked on our Grab & Go Kids Planner!

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

HEALTH IS WEALTH FESTIVAL

Pricing:  Free!

TALL TALES

Where/When: Marin Theatre Company, 397 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley, Saturday & Sunday (next weekend too), 1-2 p.m.

Why Go: Because the kids will love this show. What's better than bigger-than-life characters, giant blue oxen and American myth? It all adds up to a fun afternoon.

WIND IN THE WILLOWS

Where/When: San Anselmo Playhouse, 27 Kensington Rd., San Anselmo, Friday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: These third, fourth and fifth graders from Wade Thomas Elementary are ready to delight you and the kids with their version of this classic play. Give my regards to Mr. Toad.

Pricing: Ticket prices are $10 for adults at all shows and $7 for students at matinees.

PURIM PALOOZA

Where/When: Osher Marin Jewish Community Center, 200 N. San Pedro Rd., San Rafael, Sunday, 11:30-2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Because everybody is invited to this free carnival celebrating Purim. There’s a bounce house, arts and crafts, face painting, great food and more. Have the kiddos come in costume and join the parade.

Pricing: Free. One tradition of Purim is to give to those in need so bring a donation of at least one package of food.

Taking the kids on Sunday the 20th to Marin Osher JCC for Purim Palooza.....carnival games, prizes, music, food, and even if there are sprinkles, they are prepared with a back-up plan for all of the fun to move indoors! It's always a blast at the JCC!!!
