Innovator and social activist, Ron Gutman, is the keynote speaker at North Bay Leadership Council’s annual Leaders of the North Bay Awards Luncheon on November 2.  Gutman points out that the importance of smiling to people’s health, economic success and happiness.  For example, did you know that children smile up to 400 times per day – but adults only about 15 times per day? Attend the luncheon to learn more about this evolutionarily contagious behavior with Ron Gutman, whose talk proves smiling is powerful and a key to a better life.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

When: Saturday, Nov. 3

Where: 50 Canal St,

Time: 4 p.m.

Cost: Free

The event kicks off at 4:00 pm with family and art activities including the altar display followed at 6:00 pm by the annual procession through the Canal neighborhood and concluding with a celebration in the Albert J. Boro Community Center with music, traditional food and cultural performances. School and community groups as well as individuals interested in building an altar dedicated to lost loved ones, heroes or victims of disease or disaster can print an application at www.dayofthedeadsr.org.

"Nunsense" the Musical and Family Affair

When: Nov. 1 through Nov. 10

Where: , 3210 Kerner Blvd

Time: 8 p.m.

"Nunsense" the musical opened on Oct. 19 at 32Ten Studios in San Rafael to a vibrant audience, and it was the children's laughter that rung out and filled the luxurious theater space. This updated version of one of the longest running musicals on Broadway made it easy for the youngest to identify with references to such characters as Jay-Z, a rap/hip hop performer.  The talented cast, directed by Carl Jordan for Novato Theater Company.
