Memorial Day Weekend In Marin

Monday:

The Marin County United Veterans Council will hold their annual Memorial Day services on Monday at 9:30 a.m. honoring those who gave their lives in the service of our country.  The service, which is free to the public, will be at the at . The service will include band music, a Junior ROTC marching group, a military vehicle display and a wreath-laying service at the base of the memorials on Avenue of the Flags. Coffee and doughnuts will be served afterward. Guest speaker will be Col. John Lipinski of Travis Air Force Base.

Monday:

Put your training to the test and run one of the fastest 10K courses in the Bay Area: the Marin 10K, a flat, certified loop that kicks into high gear for a dramatic finish in the College of Marin Stadium. Or challenge yourself to a walk, run or racewalk in the Don Ritchie 5K. And don't forget the very popular and fun Youth Track Races for kids 12 and under!

If you go: There are three ways to enter: (1) by mail; (2) online; and (3) in person on the morning of the race, between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. Registration is $35.00, Youth Track Races are $5.00. A parent or guardian's signature is required for all entrants under 18 at College of Marin, 835 College Avenue in Kentfield.

Friday:

The circus is coming to town this Memorial Day weekend! American Crown Circus sets up on the grounds of in Marinwood.  American Crown Circus is a family-run, bilingual circus including acrobats, high wire acts, clowns and motorcycle heroics in the Globe of Death (but no exotic animals). The circus is the major fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise.

If you go: Tickets are $16 for 12 years and up. Two children admitted free per paid adult ticket. Additional children's tickets are $5 each. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Performances are on Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29 at 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and on Monday, May 30 at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. St. Vincent's is located off Highway 101 at the St. Vincent's/Marinwood exit.


Sunday:

Come over to the Marin Greek Festival and enjoy authentic homemade Greek food, listen to music from the Helios Greek Band and dance with Minoan Dancers. There will be cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, a Greek marketplace, exhibits and more. This year's festival benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Bay.

If you go: Weekend hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Park at the College of Marin Indian Valley Campus, 1800 Ignacio Blvd. in Novato or San Jose Middle School, 1000 Sunset Parkway in Novato and take the shuttle to the Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church.
