Youth in Arts Back to School Celebration: Free Assembly Demonstrations and Workshops

This free special weekend-long event features performances and visual workshops to help kick off the new school year and provide a sampling of Youth in Arts’ school.  Assembly Programs and Residencies will highlight the opportunities available for students and schools to interact with professional performing and visual artists and ways they can learn more about specific art forms. Parents, teachers and students will discover more about how music, dance and theater assemblies are both entertaining and linked to academic curricula and cultural celebrations. Everyone will be invited to add a visual art creation to a Hopes and Dreams Public Arts project.

Families can come create art and watch great performances. The performances on Saturday and Sunday afternoons will include Native American Hoop Dancing by Eddie Madril, Mexican Ballet Folklorico Netzahualcoyotl, Andean Music with Chaskinakuy, Mask Theater and Commedia dell'arte with Eliot Fintushel, Hawaiian dance with Halau Na Pua O Ka La'akea and Youth in Arts’ award winning teen a cappella group ‘Til Dawn.
