Join Over One Thousand Guests for THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: Biggest and Best-Ever Hanukkah Celebration!

Join over one thousand guests for The Festival of Lights, the biggest, best-ever Hanukkah party! Presented by the Osher Marin JCC, this hugely festive celebration features live music, art-making, face-painting, cooking, Zappo the Magician, latkes and sufganiyot (donuts), candle- and menorah-making, puppets, games, crafts, a bounce house, local gift shopping at the Artisan Marketplace, and much more. Guests of all ages and backgrounds are invited.

Here is the schedule of events:

Special Program for Children o to 3 years and their families:  9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. FAMILY CONNECTIONS (Yad B'Yad Room, Second Floor) Free for families with children ages 0 to 3 and their siblings. Music, art, cooking and schmoozing. RSVP to Melody at mhorowitz@marinjcc.org.

11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.   THE BUDDY CLUB PRESENTS… (Hoytt Theater) Bay Area legend Zappo the Magician. Tickets for sale at the door.

11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   DELICIOUS FOOD FOR PURCHASE  Including Hanukkah latkes and sufganiyot (donuts).

11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   FAMILY ACTIVITIES  (Kurland Lounge) 11:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.: Watch the new Sesame Street Hanukkah Special. 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Bounce in the bounce house. 12:00 p.m.: Explore ideas for celebrating Hanukkah with Janet Harris. 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Learn to play dreidel, sing candle blessings, and hear the real story of Hanukkah. 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.: Listen to Hanukkah stories with puppets from the PJ Library. 2:30 p.m.: Test your Hanukkah knowledge in a game of Jewpardy.

12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.   GAMES, CRAFTS & SHOWS  (Hoytt Theater)  Make beeswax candles, menorahs and other fun crafts; get your face painted by Buki the Clown; and eat a sufganiyot (donut) without using your hands; 2:00 p.m. Hear the Brandeis Hillel Day School Jazz Band.

12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.   ARTISAN MARKETPLACE  (Atrium & Gallery)  Buy all your holiday gifts from local vendors and artisans. Check out fused glass art and jewelry, mixed media collages, handmade scarves and more! Enjoy a free five-minute chair massage. 

WHEN: This Sunday, December 5, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a special program for families with children 0 to 3 years from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Entrance is free.

WHERE: The Osher Marin JCC, 200 North San Pedro Road, San Rafael. Ample free parking. Parking shuttle will run between the Bay Marin Community Church parking lot at 150 North San Pedro Road and the Osher Marin JCC from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
