Opening Reception for "Where We Live: Marin Landscapes by Young Artists"

Youth in Arts opens our new exhibit "Where We Live: Marin Landscapes by Young Artists" as part of ArtWorks Downtown's 2nd Fridays Art Walk. The exhibit includes watercolor landscapes by fourth and fifth grade students from Mary E. Silveira Elementary School in San Rafael and selected prints by their Youth in Arts Mentor Artist Julia James. The student artists featured have worked with Julia for multiple years, in many cases since Kindergarten. Students created the landscapes incorporating personal landmarks from around Marin. The exhibit includes a hands-on collaborative “quilt” of landscape-inspired images created by gallery visitors. After Friday's opening, the exhibit continues Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the YIA Gallery. Free group tours with a hands-on activity for classes and youth organizations are available by reservation only.
