Lenny Williams, the Voice of Tower of Power, in Concert at George's Nightclub

Oakland native Lenny Williams possesses one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music. He first rose to prominence as lead singer for "Tower of Power" from 1972–1974 and appeared on three of the group's most commercially successful albums: "Tower Of Power," "Back To Oakland," and "Urban Renewal". Williams left the group to pursue a solo career and made several hit recordings, including “Cause I Love You,” "Choosing You." and "So Very Hard To Go', which he recorded as the lead singer for Tower of Power.  Many learned the true art of laying your heart on the line all for the sake of love after listening to “Cause I Love You”. It is a timeless treasure that has influenced many artists over the years.

His discography includes twenty-two studio albums beginning in 1969 to his most recent, "Unfinished Business" released in 2009. In February 2012 Lenny released the new single "Still" which is about the changing tides of a relationship and the love that endures. With his rich, passionate vocal style, he is rightfully regarded as one of R&B's most influential soul men. Over the past few years, Lenny has continued his solo career, touring the US, Europe and South Africa. He has recently shared stages with Aretha Franklin, The Whispers, Rick James, Boney James, Bobby Womack, Ohio Players, Al Green, Usher, K-Ci and JoJo, Alicia Keyes, Anthony Hamilton and Frankie Beverly and Maze.

Lenny has also expanded his multi-dimensional career to include acting, starring in several stages plays "Love On Lay Away" starring Deborah Cox, actor Mel Jackson and Martha Wash. He also appeared in "What Men Don't Tell" starring Kenny Latimore, Shante Moore and Dottie Peoples the hit stage play "When A Woman's Fed Up". As an icon of the past and the present, Lenny Williams  continues to expand his musical prowess and flex his newly found acting skills.

Lenny Williams is continuing to inspire the younger generation. His smooth R&B vocals have attracted rappers Kanye West and Scarface to sample them on their songs. He considers it a compliment because it introduces his music in a different way. "Now is a golden opportunity for a ‘requiem’ for Lenny Williams", stated the singer. “Primarily I sing love songs [because] love is important, a necessary emotion,” says Williams. “Different entanglements of love, being in love with the wrong person… [There are] different facets of love. [I hope] someone can find joy, comfort and laughter in the songs I sing.”

His style has transcended into the new millennium, influencing many of today's newest R & B and Pop vocalists. Thanks to Young Jeezy, a newer generation of music fans are being exposed to Lenny Williams' music. On TM103 Young producer M-16 samples Williams “Let’s Talk It Over” for Jeezy’s latest hit “I Do,” featuring Jay-Z and Andre 3000. The original song was released by Williams as a single in 1979 on MCA Records. “I thought it was going to be my follow-up to ‘Cause I love you’ and I was trying to do a similar song,” says Williams of the track. “But we ended up doing it a little faster than I wanted to at the end. So I couldn’t get my talking on. It’s a good song, I always felt it was kind of wasted and here it is all these years later and Jeezy found it. It’s exciting to see what touches people. It’s gotta be thirty years later and they found it. Their version has a lot of nice strings. They got me humming in the back. I love it.”

You are about to experience a sexy and soulful experience with the man himself in the classy supper-club environment of George's Nightclub!
