Landscapes - Infrared Black and White Photography by Ken Smith

The Art Gallery at Horatius is proud to feature Landscapes – Infrared Black & White Photography by Bay Area Photographer Ken Smith, along with the very first opportunity to sample the Fita Preta wines from the Alentejo region of Portugal. Fita Preta means Black Label in Portuguese. An appropriate choice for an exhibition of black and white photography. The opening reception and wine tasting will begin at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2011.
The Art Gallery at Horatius continues to showcase the works of exciting Bay Area artists and it is proud to present a collection of over twenty-five monochromatic images by Ken Smith. All works are available for purchase. Admission is free.

Photography is Ken Smith’s overriding passion. His photographs demonstrate his breadth of experience and a strong personal aesthetic. Ken’s distinctive vision while creating black & white, infrared photography of Northern California renders an ethereal and stirring effect to each landscape. An early adopter of the digital camera, Ken perfects his craft in step with his vision. He selects and interprets what he sees through his own straightforward style. “My photographs are a quest for icons, a quest for the best subjective representation of my point of view, a quest for envisioning something more than a flat, two-dimensional graphic while always wanting to freeze the perfect moment in the time of light and reflectance.”
