Jazz Club Evening with Meklit Hadero

"You may not have heard Meklit Hadero's music before, but once you do, it'll be tough to forget." –National Public Radio

Catch a rising star with the lyrical poetry of Meklit Hadero, soul diva / urban lyricist who also is a TED Fellow, former co-director of the Red Poppy Art House in San Francisco, Yale graduate, and cultural activist promoting community involvement in the arts. Presented by The Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts at the Osher Marin JCC, this intimate, jazz-infused evening promises to inspire. With a four-piece band, Hadero, who has been described as mesmerizing, cosmopolitan, striking and worldly, will enchant with original music crafted from her Ethiopian heritage mixed with her modern take on classical jazz and blues. Influenced by Nina Simone, Hadero's luminious voice is redolent Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell and Nora Jones.
