In his first foray into non-fiction filmmaking, director Tom Shadyac creates a prismatic, probing and warmly humorous investigation into "the meaning of life." One of Hollywood's leading comedy practitioners, Shadyac is known for such hits as Ace Ventura, Liar, Liar and Bruce Almighty. In I Am he recounts what happened to him after a life-changing accident. Disillusioned with life on the A-list, he unloaded his possessions, began life anew, and armed with nothing but his innate curiosity and a camera crew, traveled to meet a variety of thinkers and doers, all remarkable figures from the worlds of science and faith. Interviewing such luminaries as David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Lynne McTaggart, Ray Anderson, John Francis, Coleman Barks and Marc Ian Barasch, our irrepressible everyman takes us on a journey to discover how we, as individuals and as a race, can improve the way we live.
