MISS REPRESENTATION: A Special Screening of a film that aims to end sexism in the media and empower women

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. The film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America.  It aims to challenge the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

Some of America's most influential women are featured in the film including Condoleezza Rice, Rachel Maddow, Katie Couric, Jane Fonda, Nancy Pelosi, and Dianne Feinstein. In October, the film will have its broadcast premiere on OWN Oprah Winfrey Network.
