Comedy Wednesday "Marga Gomez's Funny Lady Friends" featuring Shazia Mirza, Karinda Dobbins, Amy Miller, Lydia Popovich

George’s Nightclub presents an all women comic blast starring Marga Gomez, triple winner of the SF Bay Guardian’s ‘Best Comedian’ reader’s choice award. Joining Marga will be four of the coolest women in the Bay Area and International Comedy scene; Shazia Mirza, Karinda Dobbins, Amy Miller and Lydia Popovich. The show will feel like Beyonce’s “Women Rule The World” except funnier and with more clothes.

Marga Gomez is a San Francisco based, nationally touring comedian, writer and performer. Marga was named “Best Comedian 2012” by The Bay Area Reporter and is a triple winner of SF Bay Guardian’s “Best Comedian” award. Marga’s high energy, proudly Latina, openly gay, slightly dorky, tragically sexy, laugh getting act has landed her on HBO's "Comic Relief" Showtime's "Latino Laugh Festival" and LOGO’s "One Night Stand Up."

Marga is the author and performer of nine solo plays, which have been produced nationally, internationally, and Off Broadway.

Shazia Mirza from the UK has appeared on CBS 60 Minutes, NBC's Last Comic Standing, The BBC and has performed her own sell out show at The Punchline- San Francisco in 2011. Altitude Magazine raves that Shazia "Sticks the knife into political correctness with hilarious effect. A must see."

Karinda Dobbins hails from Detroit and has headlined San Francisco’s legendary Purple Onion with humor that’s sharp and infused with hilarious social commentary.

Amy Miller went to UC Berkeley, hates her cat, blames everything on her mom and has been featured at the SXSW Festival and at hip comedy clubs from Portland to LA.

Lydia Popovich is a sassy SF based comedian and blogger who says her greatest moment was when Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters touched her arm and said, "Hey, you're pretty funny." Lydia’s comedy blog gets thousands of hits every week.
