Chris Felver will introduce his documentary on free-jazz pianist Cecil Taylor and engage in discussion with Al Young, writer, professor and Poet Laureate of California. Felver's film portrait of Cecil Taylor captures the unconventional genius of this avant-garde giant, who has forged a singular path since the 1950s. Interviewed extensively at his home in Brooklyn, Taylor is depicted in performance at Lincoln Center and Yoshi's in Oakland, as well as working with students at Mills College.
