Bake Sales, Photographs and Princesses

Here’s to baked goods, Lake Lagunitas, photographs and magic spells, — pick and choose from this week’s array of events.

In this week's edition of our kid-friendly planner, we've picked five great family activities or events for the week.

Look for the Grab and Go Kids Planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

Where/When: Marin County Mart, 2257 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, Saturday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Why Go: Because your kids want to be involved. Really. Help by making some baked goods to sell at the Mart. Or if you don’t feel like baking, why not go out, buy something delicious, knowing that all proceeds go to Peace, Winds, Japan. You can drop off the goodies after 8 a.m.

Pricing: Depends on whether you’re baking or buying.  Either way it’s a win-win. For more info contact email marinb4j@gmail.com.

Where/When: Sky Oaks Road, Fairfax

Why Go: The kids are ready for a hike (and so are you).  This time of year is the perfect time to walk around the lake.  The kids can search out salamanders and newts or watch the birds. You can take in the fresh air.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Marin Kids and Maternity Consignment, 814 W. Francisco Blvd., San Rafael, Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Why Go: Come in and get a "mini shoot" with Kelly Baker Photography. Have the kiddos bring their favorite toy, stuffed animal or blanket for this relaxed session.

Pricing: $60 for mini shoot. Make an appointment early as the sessions book up fast at kelly@kellybakerphotography.com.

Where/When: Playhouse, 27 Kensington Rd., San Anselmo, Friday 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: There’s something about this ballet that kids love, and why not?  Could it be the lovely princess and lavish costumes? Or maybe it’s the fairies and magic spells?  Either way, there's plenty of tutus.

Pricing: $12-$20.  For more info call 415-454-5759.
