OK, this one's for all the high school juniors and seniors. Leslie Goldgehn will be at Book Passage in Corte Madera tonight at 6 p.m. to offer advice on Acing the College Essay: Obtaining Letters of Recommendation, Financial Aid and More.

Essays are the “tipping point” that can turn a student’s application into an acceptance. Goldgehn, founder of CollegeMatters, shares tips for writing essays for the greatest return. The cost is $25 for parents, $15 for students.

If you have an event or announcement coming up you'd like to share, please post it on Patch. It's free!

• Children's Storytime: Let's not forget how reading is FUNdamental for children, too. There are a variety of reading groups for young children and their parents around town. Mother Goose is on the loose at the Corte Madera Library every Tuesday at 10 a.m. for storytime for babies 0-24 months old, with a parent or caregiver. The Larkspur Library offers fun for babies and toddlers, with songs, fingerplays, nursery rhymes and very short stories just right for this age group. Pottery Barn Kids, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Book Passage also offer children's storytimes.

• Support for Supporters: Taking care of a loved one can be stressful, difficult, even frightening. The Center for Attitudinal Healing peer support group for individuals caring for a loved one with a serious illness provides a supportive environment in which to share feelings, thoughts, and fears, and give and receive support. The group meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. at 1350 S. Eliseo Drive, Greenbrae. There is no cost.
