‘Dads and Daughters’ Have a Ball at Marin Ballet Bash

The event kicked off the new school year at Marin Ballet culminates with annual Nutcracker production.

About 200 or so Marin Ballet dancers attended “Dads & Daughters Masquerade Ball” donned a theatrical array of theatrical masks at the Mill Valley Community Center in September.

The event, which was organized by parents of Marin Ballet students, featured activities including karaoke, dancing, and a live auction and raffle.

Marin Ballet provides classical ballet training to over 330 students at its recently renovated San Rafael facility. The first annual Father-Daughter Dance was launched to build a stronger bond between the Dads of the dancers and the school, and to help raise funds for the dance programs.

“We had 200 adorable girls and proud fathers dancing, smiling and laughing, and enjoying some rare, precious time with each other,” Chris Clifford, a Marin Ballet parent and Board member said in a prepared statement.

“It was fun to meet the other dads, and we were pleased to be able to raise money for the school and financial aid. The real magic is that years later each dad will remember the moments he and his daughter were dancing, she looking up to him, he captivated by the moment.”
