A Little History and a Lot of Jazz

Escape for dinner and live jazz at Panama Hotel Restaurant & Inn, a 101-year-old bed and breakfast in Gerstle Park.

Whether you're a stay-at-home-mom, working part time, or working full time out of the house and still juggling the demands of mommyhood, every woman needs a break. With that idea in mind, we've begun running what will be a new weekly feature dubbed "The Great Escape." Best part: You don't have to go far to get far away from it all. Every one of these adventures is right here in San Rafael!

Here's one idea:

Go to the Panama Hotel Restaurant & Inn for a little history and a lot of jazz. Built in 1910, the bed and breakfast is nestled in the Gerstle Park neighborhood and originally catered to travellers at the nearby train depot. There's a great restaurant (they even allow pets to dine with you if you sit outside) and live jazz and blues every Tuesday, Thursday and alternating Wednesday nights.
