The Department of Occupational Therapy at Dominican University of California is once again accepting seniors age 60 & over into its free 2013 Healthy Seniors program.
The eight-week individualized health and wellness program,
which begins September 26, will be held every Thursday afternoon through
November 14 from 1-3 p.m. in the OT department in the newly-renovated Albertus
Magnus building located at 90 Acacia Avenue in San Rafael.
A morning program also will be offered at the St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Duggan Hall at 180 Harrison Avenue in Sausalito from 10 a.m. to noon.
The program is designed to promote health and wellness and to encourage seniors to maintain a more active and meaningful lifestyle.
Under the supervision of faculty member Susan LeBlanc, MS, OTR/L from Dominican’s OT department, senior citizens will learn to maintain healthy lifestyle changes, to explore technological devices, and to manage daily living with chronic physical conditions. Other issues that may be addressed and individualized are topics including fall prevention and home safety, nutrition, safe driving and community mobility.
