Marin HHS Issues an RFP for a Community Alcohol, Tobacco, or Other Drug Prevention Coalition

The Marin County Dept. of Health and Human Services is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to support one Community Alcohol, Tobacco, and/or Other Drug Prevention Coalition.

Any Community Based Organization, nonprofit, or municipality serving the following Marin communities are eligible to apply: City of Mill Valley, Town of Tiburon, City of Belvedere, Town of Fairfax, Town of San Anselmo, Town of Ross, City of San Rafael, County Unincorporated-West Marin, City of Sausalito or Marin City Community Service District. Applicants must apply individually, unless they are a municipality that shares a police department and only one application per organization/agency will be accepted.

Awards are intended to support community-based coalitions. Coalitions receiving funds are expected to work within their communities to identify and address local substance use problems. Coalitions should use environmental strategies seek to: (1) limit access to substances, (2) change the culture and context within which decisions about substance use are made, and/or (3) reduce the prevalence of negative consequences associated with substance use (such as motor vehicle crashes, sexual assaults, etc.).

Funds under this grant may not be used for activities or interventions directed at specific individuals or small groups, however the primary purpose of the funding is to strengthen the capacity of coalitions to reduce and prevent youth and adult substance use and abuse in the community by generating positive, lasting changes to local policies, organizational practices, the consistent enforcement of laws and policies and sustaining community efforts over time.
