Dominican's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Open House on August 20
As the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) completes its 10th year as an academic program of Dominican University of California, it extends its reach further and deeper into Marin’s neighborhoods.
This fall the program offers classes on five sites: Dominican University in San Rafael; Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon; Villa Marin in Terra Linda; the Tamalpais in Greenbrae; and the Dance Palace in Point Reyes.
OLLI offers a wide variety of liberal arts classes to community members aged 50 and older. In the past three years alone, membership has grown from 651 members to 1,180 members.

An open house will be held Tuesday, August 20 from 10 a.m. until noon in Angelico Hall on the Dominican campus in San Rafael. The open house is free and open to the public. Fall courses to be previewed include Presidential Affairs, Burma and its Neighbors, and Art Theft and Western Culture.
About half of all OLLI courses are now taught off-campus, said Katherine Henderson, Program Director.

“The quality of programming has been the major driver of growth, but expanding to sites off campus also has resulted in significant growth,” Henderson said.
“The residents of Southern Marin truly appreciate the proximity of Congregation Kol Shofar, and the residents of West Marin save up to 40 minutes of driving time by attending classes at the Dance Palace.”
