Youth Ensemble Wins Silver and Bronze!

The Singers Marin youth ensemble, les étoiles, has just returned from their trip to Cincinnati, where they competed in the 2012 World Choir Games.  They are thrilled to be bringing home a silver and bronze medal in their two competition categories: Youth of Equal Voices and Popular Music. Local San Rafael resident ,Esther Mondesir, was among the youth members who participated in the games.

This “Olympic” style event was huge, with over 350 choirs from 68 nations, equaling more than 15,000 participants. There are 28 possible categories of choral music that include: Children, Youth, Women, Men, and Mixed ensembles, as well as the diverse musical styles of Liturgical, Gospel, Popular, Jazz, Folklore, etc.  This was the first year the competition was held in the USA.  In past years, les étoiles competed in Bremen, Germany and Graz, Austria, taking home a Bronze medal and a silver diploma. This was by far the best they have ever performed!

Now, we are getting ready to build our team for the next World Choir Games to be held in Latvia in 2014. Interested singers should contact the Singers Marin office for an audition, and begin their vocal training for this exciting opportunity.

Singers Marin is a Mill Valley based non-profit organization of choruses for youth and adults.  For more information: Contact the SingersMarin office by phone: (415) 383-3712, by email at: office@singersmarin.org or visit the website: www.singersmarin.org.

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
