Marin’s Only 24-Hour Veterinary Hospital Reveals State-of-the-Art Upgrades

After nearly 15 years of community service, the Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin has just completed state-of-the art renovations allowing them to better serve Marin pet owners and veterinarians.  PESCM provides 24-hour emergency care as well as treatment by world-class veterinary specialists using the latest advanced equipment. Pet owners are invited to see the new facility and take a behind-the-scenes tour on Thursday February 28th from 6-8pm.

One of the most unique features of the fully renovated hospital is a pet visitation area for hospitalized patients in critical condition.  The PESCM team designed and constructed unique cages that allow access from both sides – one for medical staff and another for family members to spend time comforting their pet in a quiet area.  PESCM believes this design is a first in the United States.  According to PESCM co-owner, emergency veterinarian Dr. Peter Bowie, “We’ve always passionately believed in the importance of allowing clients to visit and comfort hospitalized pets, just like they would with human family members.  It’s also important, however, that patients continue to receive necessary treatments and monitoring.  Our new dual-entry cage design and connecting family visitation area allows the best of both worlds.”

“Our newly renovated hospital has an open treatment room that runs the entire length of the building,” says PESCM co-owner, Dr. Steve Dana.  “This new area encourages collaboration among doctors and our skilled paraprofessional team to provide the best level of care for the individual patient.”

The remodel also includes dual state-of-the art surgical suites with controlled airflow, high-intensity lighting, and adequate space for the advanced equipment required to perform complex orthopedic or minimally invasive procedures.  PESCM is proud to announce a separate low-stress oncology area that combines high tech equipment with a quiet and comforting environment away from other patients.

In planning the expansion from 3,000 square feet to the current 12,000 square foot facility, PESCM’s key objective was to improve the care and comfort of both patients and clients.  Other key features of the new facility include:

  • An expanded lobby with natural light, comfortable seating and WiFi access
  • Exam room space that has tripled to reduce wait times - one of these rooms features a “home” environment for added patient and client comfort during euthanasia
  • A specially designed central triage area with advanced monitoring equipment, oxygen, and defibrillation capability
  • A “cats only” ward providing special privacy for feline patients

“In the past, Marin pet owners may have had to travel significant distance for specialty treatment,” says PESCM co-owner Dr. Chris Rodi.   “That’s not the case anymore.  Marin pet parents can rest assured they have access to world-class veterinary specialists along with a top-notch facility right here in their backyard.  Our team of more than a dozen doctors includes veterinary specialists with advanced training in internal medicine, surgery, oncology and dermatology.  And as always, we are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to serve pets in the event of an emergency.  We invite everyone to view the new facility this Thursday, February 28th from 6-8pm.  We’re excited to share your new hospital with you!”

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
