Dominican University of California President Mary B. Marcy will announce the largest ever gift in university history, introduce the donor (a resident of San Francisco and Marin), and share plans to transform Meadowlands Hall, a 124-year-old Victorian mansion, into a 30,000 square-foot academic facility on Wednesday.
The renovation of the historic mansion, once the summer home of San Francisco Chronicle founder Michael H. de Young, will triple the amount of square footage dedicated to laboratory, office and classroom space for the Department of Nursing and Department of Occupational Therapy.
The move positions Dominican to meet the rapidly growing demand for skilled health care workers, including occupational therapists, nurses, and public health professionals. The University also plans to launch a new undergraduate degree program in Public Health and a graduate program in Clinical Laboratory Science.
