Have you noticed that San Rafael firefighters are wearing pink? That's because they are joining other fire agencies throughout the county to help "Extinguish Breast Cancer." This week, all firefighters will be wearig pink while on duty in suport of breast cancer research. "Chances are everyone either knows a family member or friend with breast cancer and we hope this effort helps to increase awareness in support of finding the cure," Fire Chief Chris Gray said. Pickleweed Community Center in the Canal community hosted a Marin County Community Garden Summit on April 29. The study was instigated by the many phone calls the University of California received and the 220 Marin residents on the waiting list for local community gardens, Project Coordinator Mark Bauermeister said.
