Couple of things: it's "cap and trade" not "cap and tax". There's a bigRead More difference. Do some research. California was advised by experts to implement cap and tax which could actually work. But instead CARB decided on cap and trade, which has been tried and failed in other places, most notably the EU. Secondly, current California law requires that money generated from cap and trade must be spent on projects to reduce CO2 emissions and the money cannot be put into the general fund. So of course building HSR to get cars off the road is an eligible expenditure. Also, with China and India emitting exponentially more CO2 every year, California's cap and trade program will make no difference to climate change. But a lot of companies, most notably PG+E and the oil drilling companies (supposedly to remain competitive), will make windfall profits because CARB chose to give free carbon credits to them, which they can turn around and sell at a profit. The entire scheme is nothing more than a way to make some people richer while doing nothing to combat global warming.

Karl Rove: Better to Run Candidate to 'Lose to Jerry Brown' than Run Tea Partier

Like so many in the citizen control cult, Yee has seldom found a law restricting the rights ofRead More citizens that he didn’t support. He’s attacked hunting, supported a law to ban the sale of “M” rated video games that was struck down by the California Supreme Court on First Amendment grounds, and has been the author of multiple gun control bills. Yee had made repeated attempts to outlaw popular semi-automatic rifles, and his most recent effort, SB 374, was vetoed by Governor Jerry Brown last year. Yee had vowed to reintroduce the legislation again in 2014, but will likely be more concerned about finding a good defense lawyer instead. The raid also likely signals the end of his run for Secretary of State in California.

New health insurance marketplaces signing up few uninsured Americans, two surveys find The newRead More health insurance marketplaces appear to be making little headway in signing up Americans who lack insurance, the Affordable Care Act’s central goal, according to a pair of new surveys. Only one in 10 uninsured people who qualify for private plans through the newmarketplaces enrolled as of last month, one of the surveys shows. The other found that about half of uninsured adults have looked for information on the online exchanges or planned to look. The snapshots from the surveys released Thursday provide preliminary answers to what has been one of the biggest mysteries since HealthCare.gov and separate state marketplaces opened last fall: Are they attracting their prime audience? The findings emerge as the Obama administration has been revising a series of rules that define how the 2010 law works in practice. According to a variety of health-policy experts who support and oppose the law, the changes are in response to consumer hesitancy and political opposition that linger — at least, in the early going — as the law’s major provisions have taken effect. The rule changes postpone or relax aspects of the law, sometimes to adjust for technical problems, other times to push into the future controversies that have arisen from specific groups of consumers or parts of the health care industry. This week, administration officials said that people could keep for three years old health plans whose benefits do not meet the law’s standards. Last week, they said the government would pay for people in certain states to collect federal subsidies for insurance policies outside the exchanges. Two weeks before that, they gave medium-size and large employers two additional years before they must offer coverage to their full-time workers. ==================================== http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/health-insurance-marketplaces-signing-up-few-uninsured-americans-surveys-say/2014/03/06/cdae3152-a54d-11e3-84d4-e59b1709222c_print.html

President Obama has done it again. For the 20th time, America's "Radical-in-Chief" hasRead More changed his signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), to once again suit his political needs. On Wednesday, the Obama administration announced that insurers can now wait until 2017 -- after the next presidential election -- before canceling non-ACA compliant insurance plans. According to the Galen Institute, a not-for-profit health and tax policy research organization: "This extension will prevent a wave (of) cancellation notices from going out before the 2014 midterm elections." Last week's announcement is just the latest example of the President and his minions re-writing the ACA for purely political reasons. Whatever doesn't bolster Democrats' chances in this year's midterm elections or the 2016 elections is simply changed or delayed without congressional approval and without fixing the real problems of ObamaCare. + + Obama Again Fails To Fulfill Oath Of Office The Galen Institute also notes that "more than 37 significant changes already have been made to ObamaCare: at least 20 that President Obama has made unilaterally, 15 that Congress has passed and the president has signed, and two by the Supreme Court." This latest "unilateral" ObamaCare change is simply more proof that America's 44th president consistently fails to fulfill his oath of office to "faithfully ... preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." We are a nation of laws, and as explained in Article 1, Section 1 of the Constitution: "All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives." The president doesn't have the power to change laws or choose not to enforce them, yet Obama does both anyway.

Obama caves in to pressure from pro-amnesty groups; Will seek ways to halt more deportationsRead More Earlier this week, new DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson admitted to the House Appropriations Committee that the administration's claim of record deportations is based on a different measure than that used by past administrations. To make its claim, DHS has been counting only deportations conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, however, more than half of those deportations included cases that were opened by the Border Patrol and turned over to ICE. In other words, less than half of Obama's record deportations were a result of interior enforcement efforts. Still, Pres. Obama has been under immense pressure from pro-amnesty groups, including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, to halt all deportations. Earlier this week, Politico reported that the National Council of La Raza has labelled him the 'Deporter-in-Chief.' (Jeremy's blog has more on this story.) Yesterday, Pres. Obama met with Members from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus after they threatened to introduce a resolution demanding more executive actions to halt deportations. In response to the threat, the White House announced that it would examine whether immigration enforcement can be conducted "more humanely within the confines of the law." The President emphasized his deep concern about the pain too many families feel from the separation that comes from our broken immigration system. He told the members that he has asked Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson to do an inventory of the Department's current practices to see how it can conduct enforcement more humanely within the confines of the law. -- White House statement So, just a few days after Johnson admitted that the administration is reporting inflated deportation statistics, he will now examine ways to reduce deportations even further. Deferred action has already been granted to more than 500,000 illegal aliens through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that started in 2012.

3per - I really wasn't being angry or throwing bombs. You wrote about why your post disappeared, andRead More that is what I was addressing. I was just suggesting why it may have been deleted. I'm not using the word "troll" in a derogatory fashion, but just by its definition as an anonymous poster. The Patch powers-that-be do let people comment anonymously, but I think they might be drawing the line about posting articles anonymously, especially if the subject matter is controversial, but their back-end now allows it. The first time I posted an article about my RepealSMART petition, Brent said I couldn't post it as RepealSMART, but had to use my own name; he had to approve the article first, and he wanted a picture of me before publishing it. Now with their new web design, any registered user can post articles without approval, but I don't think they like it, especially the ones that are controversial. Their revamped website and reduced workforce prevent them from doing anything but an after-the-fact censorship. If you don't want to use your name, make one up that sounds real, post the same article, and see if it disappears. I bet it doesn't.
