This Weekend in San Rafael Aug. 26-27

From the Unauthorized Rolling Stones rocking it under the Oaks and the opening of Marin Shakespeare Company's "The Tempest" to Free Family Day at the Marin History Museum and a graduation at Guide Dogs for the Blind, we've got you covered.

Here's what's going on this weekend:

Friday:

Northgate Mall’s 2nd Annual Summer Concert Series, Concerts under the Oak, Tonight’s featured band is the Unauthorized Rolling Stones, recognized as the leading Rolling Stones tribute band in the world. Come see what the fuss is all about.

If you go: The concerts are free and run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at , in Oak Plaza next to . Restaurants carry specials and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse will have one of their signature beers available for $5 a glass for those 21 and over.  Bring your chairs as there’s limited seating. Rock on!

Saturday and Sunday:

The presents The Tempest. The professional, award-winning company presents The Tempest under the summer stars in its outdoor venue, Forest Meadows Amphitheatre in San Rafael. The story is a magical, mysterious exploration of revenge, forgiveness and the transitory nature of dreams. Marin Shakespeare Company welcomes wunderkind director Jon Tracy who brings his own brand of magic to this enchanting romance. Featuring Robert Parsons, Michael Torres, Scott Coopwood, Lynne Soffer and George Maguire.

If you go: Tickets are $20-$35 and can be bought by clicking here. Saturday’s opening show begins at 8 p.m. and you are invited to celebrate  with complimentary champagne, cake and festivities. Sunday’s show is a “family show” beginning at 4 p.m. and youth 18 and under attend the show for free.  The play is performed at Forest Meadows Amphitheatre, 1475 Grand Avenue, in San Rafael, The show continues until Sept. 25.

 

Saturday:

Join thein celebrating their latest exhibition, “Marin at War!”  Special activities for Free Family Day will include a Color Guard ceremony, games, crafts, music and more.

If you go: This free family day is open from 11 a.m. to 4 .m. at the , 1125 B Street in San Rafael.

 

Saturday:

CSI: Miami celebrities Eva LaRue and Omar Miller will attend the graduation ceremony at to help kick off National Guide Dog Month.  Natural Balance Pet Foods, and other independent retailers are helping to raise awareness and support for Guide Dogs for the Blind throughout the month of September.  The two stars play forensic scientists on the show and will honor Guide Dogs for the Blind graduate and real-life forensic scientist Cecilia von Beroldingen and her Guide Dog Neoki.

Attending a graduation ceremony at Guide Dogs for the Blind is one of the best ways to really get acquainted with their program.  

If you go: The public ceremony takes place at 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. at , 350 Los Ranchitos Road, in San Rafael. Tours of the campus follow.
