Marinwood Carjacking Suspect Arrested in Petaluma

Petaluma Police apprehended 25-year-old Jeremiah Cordell Dickerson, who allegedly punched a woman he was traveling with, took her SUV and fled to San Francisco, where he hit a fire truck.

Four days after an alleged carjacking on Hwy. 101 in Marinwood that sent the suspect fleeing to San Francisco and reportedly crashing into a fire truck, Petaluma Police arrested the Marin man accused in the case.

Last Thursday at around 5:30 p.m., Petaluma Police arrested 25-year-old Jeremiah Cordell Dickerson at Washington Street and McDowell Boulevard near the Petaluma Plaza shopping center and detained him for the California Highway Patrol.

Dickerson, who was listed as a Mill Valley resident by the CHP, gave a Tiburon address when he was booked into Marin County Jail at 7 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of robbery carjacking, battery, vehicle theft, driving with a suspended license, hit-and-run driving and a probation violation. He remains in custody in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Dickerson had been sought since last Sunday, when CHP officials said a man who became angry with the female owner of the Ford Explorer they were travelling in on Hwy. 101 southbound began punching her in the face, according to Officer Andrew Barclay. The woman fled the SUV as she feared for her life, and the suspect quickly sped away from the scene, Barclay said.

The driver continued heading south on Hwy. 101, speeding and driving recklessly, Barclay said, before heading into San Francisco and eventually hit a San Francisco Fire department truck in the 1300 block of Post Street as the truck was responding to an emergency.
