Local Talent Sought to Sing at Pacifics Games

Do you have what it takes to sing The Star-Spangled Banner a cappella at a San Rafael baseball game? Check out some of last year's performers from throughout the county.

In preparation for the second season of San Rafael’s minor league baseball, local organizers are searching for locals who can sing the national anthem at San Rafael Pacifics home games.

San Rafael-based Local Music Vibe will select the singers and San Rafael music shop Bananas at Large will provides the sound equipment.

Check out the above videos of the last year’s anthem singers, including Em K of Fairfax, Novato resident Lara Johnston, Singers Marin, the Youth in Arts’ ‘Til Dawn choir, the San Rafael High School Jazz Choir, San Rafael resident Dick Bright, Terra Linda High School senior Laura Anderson, San Rafael resident Michael Shapiro, Mill Valley singer and songwriter Roberta Donnay and San Rafael resident Thomas Stephens.

To be considered for any of the 42 home games, a contestant can send a link to a video of them singing the anthem a cappella. The video doesn't have to be professional quality — it can just be taken on a phone and e-mailed to shelley@localmusicvibe.com

This year, organizers will also have live music for the pre-game warm-up and 7th inning stretch. Those interested in doing a special "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" or the pre-game performance can also send videos to the same e-mail.

“It’s a nice way for us to inject some local musical talent into America’s favorite past time,” said Local Music Vibe Founder and Community Manager Shelley Champine.
