Gang Shooting Results in Arrests of 3 Boys

No one appeared injured after incident early Sunday in Canal Area.

Three boys were arrested early Sunday in connection to a gang-related shooting in the Canal area of San Rafael, police said.

San Rafael police officers responded to the 400 block of Canal Street at 12:43 a.m. after receiving a call of shots fired, according to a press release. Witnesses directed officers toward a kids running from the area, and a police perimeter was set up around the area.

Six subjects were detained and one, a 16-year-old boy, was found to be in possession of a handgun. After interviews, officers determined that the boy had fired toward rival gang members. Rounds of ammunition and shell casings found at the scene matched the type used in the boy’s handgun, police said.
