San Rafael police will hold a DUI checkpoint this Friday eastbound on Third and Union streets.
The checkpoint is the first since the San Rafael Police Department updated its impound policy, where an unlicensed driver’s car can be released to someone with a valid driver's license instead of being impounded for 30 days.
Friday's checkpoint will start at 6 p.m. and may relocate later in the evening to northbound Irwin Street at Fifth Avenue.
